How to get to Albufeira

Albufeira, as well as the rest of the Algarve, has good internal connections with other Portuguese cities and with the rest of the world.

In what concerns air transport, Albufeira is about 32 km from Faro International Airport, to and from where several national companies guarantee regular flights, making the region a privileged point of departure and arrival.

The Algarve also has a good road network, consisting of Motorways (AE), Main Itineraries (IP), Complementary Itineraries (IC), National Roads (EN) and Municipal Roads, effective for bus or rental car travel.

To reach Albufeira, using the Algarve motorway (A2), take the last toll road – Paderne, onto the A22 (Via do Infante) and follow the direction Albufeira – Portimão.

If coming from Andalusia, take the A-49 road from Spain / Sevilla. This motorway is the one that connects Seville to Huelva to the Portuguese border. From there take the A-22 motorway or the EN125 road which takes you to Albufeira. Note that A-22 is a motorway with electronic tolls.

If you wish to drive from Albufeira along the Algarve, take the A-22 motorway which goes from the Spanish border to the west of the city of Lagos. Albufeira is located in the centre of this motorway. In case you want to avoid the A-22 tolls, opt for EN 125 road.

Rail transport is another alternative for those who want to visit the region, providing CP – Comboios de Portugal a vast train network that covers the mainland, being Albufeira served by Ferreiras Station, which is about 7km from the centre of the city.
